about
My pots are cathartic conduits, containers of memory and experience. Archaeological pottery finds are a connection to past beliefs, power struggles, conflict and domestic life. I record events, feelings, frustrations, opinions or anything I wish to communicate in that moment. I carve at a slow, mediative speed without punctuation or correcting mistakes. The rotation of a hand thrown vessel is a perfect way to illustrate the lived experience of dyslexia. It is impossible to see everything at the same time. The reader is forced to read slowly, possibly re-reading as its easy to confuse visually similar words and misinterpret meaning.
